Locally, I essentially have 2 options:

-cheaper, not organic, less tasty produce at my local stores

-good looking, tasty, and more expensive produce at high-end grocery stores

I know there are those lovely grocery stores where you can buy beautiful, expensive, organic produce, but those stores are not near me. I do not have time to drive to them. I also just think there’s a price point on a carrot, a potato, a bunch of celery. These are vegetables, people! If I had my act together, I could grow them myself. $2 an apple is just too expensive.

Instead of buying clothes I don’t need or makeup someone else picked out, I can get fruits and veggies delivered to me weekly or every other week. We, the inhabitants of the United States waste about one third of the food we buy (https://www.futurity.org/food-waste-united-states-sustainability-consumers/). I really hate that statistic. I’ve been to places where people are truly hungry, and I feel a weight of irresponsibility and guilt when I waste food at my house.

4. Misfits Market is a local Philly business, working to avoid waste in a way that promotes the health of people and the planet.

They pay well above minimum wage, offer full benefits, and intentionally hire refugees and previously incarcerated individuals. Misfits Market is EXACTLY the kind of business I want to support with my dollars.
